WHY be offended by the word "gormless"? In Haslingden I think it would be spoken as "gawmless" - more of an "ahh" than "oor".
If the residents up "Ozzy" object to the word, why are they so proud of the Olde Calico Shop and the stocks, plus many, many more reminders of the good old days? A visit to Oswaldtwistle Mills will take you back in time.
We have a language all of our own and there should be no airs and graces.
So just sit yersel' down an' mek yersel' at 'ome 'cos there's Lancashire spoken 'ere.
