PUPILS and green fingered volunteers have been taking a close look at the damage caused by vandals at a nature reserve project they have been working on for the last 12 months.
But the youngsters from Rhyddings High School are refusing to be beaten by the wreckers who have caused thousands worth of damage.
The pupils, with the help of Groundwork East Lancashire, have been removing rubbish from the beauty spot and building pools by a nearby stream.
Project leader Bob Sutcliffe said: "We are determined to continue working on the site with the school conservation team.
"It is always so disheartening when this happens but we will not give up."
The group is also on the lookout for new volunteers and anyone interested in joining the project should ring 01282 832712.
