AN UNBEATEN 100 from Aussie amateur Kevin Geyes and 66 from professional Andy Williams blasted Greenmount into the next round of the Bolton League's Hamer Cup. Opponents Westhoughton had totalled 192 for 8 but the Mount cruised through with nine wickets to spare to compensate for a league defeat at Tonge the previous day when Richard Ankers top scored with 62.

Elton's John Ashworth hit an unbeaten 80 in the Bolton Association 'derby' at Walshaw, the visitors 158 for 8. The home side replied with 143 for 6 and while they had no game on Sunday, Elton were drawing with visitors Blackrod, home pro Darren Foy 5 for 47.

Ramsbottom put the brake on Lancashire League leaders Lowercroft, restricting their visitors to 200 for 9 after Steve Dearden's brilliant 106 had helped the Rams to 254 for 6.

Edenfield's bowlers took something of a mauling in the Ribblesdale League as Clitheroe raced to 308 for 5, the home side all out for 140.

But the lads from Gincroft Lane set a poser on Sunday for at the end of a rain-affected game they had an identical run-rate with Baxenden and the League Management Committee will have to consider a verdict.

It was a happy weekend for Woodbank in the Lancashire County League for after taking maximum points from their visit to Irlam they enjoyed a seven-wicket win over Dukinfield in the Walkden Cup.

Local rivals Prestwich (97) played second fiddle to Dukinfield (178 for 3) on Saturday.

Top performers in the Central Lancashire League were Stand who marched into joint leadership with Walsden following a five-wicket win at Crompton (128).

Mike Ramsden's 75 runs helped Radcliffe (174 for 2) to pass Oldham's 172 for 9 while Gus Logie's superb 140 put Unsworth (235 for 9) firmly in the driving seat against Stockport (143 for 9).

Radcliffe's weekend was made complete on Sunday when they ousted Stand from the Wood Cup.

Chasing 216 for 3, Radcliffe swept to victory by six wickets with John McAuley leading the way with 91.

Unsworth hammered 269 for 7 at Oldham (Jones 102) and the home side were 96 for 1 in reply before the rain forced the tie to be continued on Monday night. It was nail-biting stuff but the home side were eventually all out for 253.

There wasn't must joy for the local pair in the Manchester Association. Brooksbottom (189 for 9) were overhauled by Worsley (193 for 8) while Bury were on 160 for 7 at the close, responding to Weaste's 223 for 5.
