Regarding fluoride in drinking water (Citizen, May 16), why should we all be subjected to mass medication with a poisonous substance simply because the youngsters of today can't resist eating sweets and fizzy drinks?
Many senior citizens (such as ourselves) still have their own teeth because we have always taken the trouble to use a toothbrush regularly.
If the present generation of children want rotten teeth, let them; the simple remedy is in their own (and their parents') hands - use a toothbrush.
Has the dental health educator given a thought to the fact that some people could be allergic to fluoride?
What is needed is education of the children and their parents, not water additives.
