DRAWN together from schools around the Borough, Bury's young ambassadors - known as the magnificent seven - have received official thanks and praise for their starring role in the National Conference on Youth and Crime organised by the Association of Metropolitan Authorities earlier this year.
Despite the event being packed with acknowledged experts, senior Council representatives and officers from all over England and Wales, the teenagers captured the attention of the delegates as they put on a presentation supported by Bury Metro's Council Leader, Councillor John Byrne, and Greater Manchester Police Authority Co-ordinator for Youth Consultation, Geoff Kirkman.
At a special presentation at Bury Town Hall the seven - Hayley Doherty, Katie Finney, Katie Prince and Duncan Dampier, all from Parrenthorn High in Prestwich, together with Anne Davis from Prestwich High, Patresa Allen of Saint Monica's High, Prestwich and Woodhey's Stephanie Brennan - received special certificates which recognise the part that they played and will go into their own Records of Achievement.
