MARK Eccleston is a man with a transatlantic mission after being called up by the British Paralympic Association to represent Great Britain in wheelchair rugby in this year's Paralympic Games in Atlanta.
The 26-year-old from Bridge Road, Clock Face, earned his place at the Games - scheduled to take place between August 15 and 25 - following a three-month stint in 1994 with American club Suncoast Storm in Tampa, Florida. He helped the Suncoast Storm side rise from 17th to fifth place in the national standings.
Mark's previous international record includes two bronzes from international invitation events, as well as silver medal in the international wheelchair games of 1993 and 1994.
