BUSY roads in Burnley where dozens of children have been injured will soon be much safer.
Around £200,000 will go on streets around Rossendale Road, Accrington Road and Manchester Road to slow down traffic using the area. A lot of the money will go on St Matthew Street, Scott Park Road and Harold Avenue.
The cash is from the Safe Town initiative, allowing Burnley Council and the County Council to spend extra money to cut down the number of accidents.
County Councillor Terry Burns said: "We are being allowed to spend the cash in Burnley, and it's going where it is needed most. That part of town has accounted for 28 per cent of all the accidents in the area. There are a lot a schools round there and I am pleased that children's safety is being given priority."
Police, schools and residents will all be consulted about the scheme.
