THE lack of any transfer action at Turf Moor has not stopped rumours circulating about which big-name players could be coming to Burnley.
Adrian Heath was not being drawn this week on the players he's interested in - and so all kinds of speculation have been taking place.
Suggestions about who could be on their way to Burnley have ranged from the plausible - former Rangers star Mark Walters or Bolton's David Lee - to the ridiculous - ex-USSR man Alexei Mikhailichenko.
Heath says he has been holding talks with a premier league midfielder, and it seems likely that there could be an announcement soon. The manager's fact-finding trip to Barcelona last week has not borne any immediate fruit, but Heath's contacts on the continent can only be good news for the Clarets.
Walters, who also had a stint at Liverpool, has been put on a free transfer by Southampton, and Lee's name has been linked with Burnley in the past. Trevor Steven could even be on for a return to Turf Moor.
Meanwhile, Charlie Bishop has not yet signed for Burnley because he is holding out just in case someone makes him a better offer - if not, the versatile Barnsley defender will probably sign for around £80,000.
Marlon Beresford says he wants to stay at Burnley, while Gerry Harrison, Chris Vinnicombe and Warren Joyce have the chance to extend contracts.
