ADA Gibson (Letters, May 7) stirred memories of over 70 years ago when maypole dancing was a regular event.
I remember, around the age of five, watching the maypole being erected with red white and blue, streamers already attached to its top with which little girls would weave a plaited pattern while dancing to the sound of the local brass band and, like Ada, I, too, am sure that the sun always shone in those May days.
