LANCASHIRE want Raymond Illingworth to be disciplined by Lord's for his new book "One Man Committee."
The book, currently being serialised in a national newspaper, has reopened a number of controversies including Illingworth's winter row with Devon Malcolm.
But it is his comments about his relationship with Mike Atherton, especially concerning selection, which has enraged Lancashire.
He describes a number of disagreements with the England captain, but Atherton is unable to respond because of his contract with the Test and County Cricket Board.
Lancashire Chairman Bob Bennett explained the club's decision to go public: "We believe this matter is a prima facie breach of the board's disciplinary regulations and we have requested the TCCB to refer it to the disciplinary committee.
"We appreciate the objectives of the TCCB in trying to bring about a high level of self-discipline from people involved in the game. It is an objective Lancashire support.
"I have spoken to Mike and David Lloyd merely to inform them of our action, but I was not looking for a response."
Atherton has refused to comment on the latest row insisting that he wants to concentrate on the Texaco Trophy.
