I WISH to trace the families of my grand uncles who emigrated to Accrington, between 1870 and 1890 approximately, to work in the mills, from Gortermone, Co Sligo, Ireland.
They were: Thomas Kennedy (born 1847), James Kennedy (1853), James Kennedy (1856), Michael Kennedy (1861), Martin Kennedy (1863) and Francis (or) Austin Kennedy (date of birth unknown).
There were four others in the family who remained in Ireland - Patrick, Mary, Bridget and Joseph, my grandfather. Their parents were John and Ellen Kennedy.
