BLACKBURN Rovers are set to announce a multi-million pound new sponsorship deal at Ewood tomorrow, writes PETER WHITE.

And they will also reveal their new blue and white halved playing kit for the first time.

The name McEwan's Lager has been carried on the shirts for several years in a profitable partnership for both parties.

But it is now to be replaced by a new name, with an official announcement due tomorrow.

Rovers have had only two major sponsors since a company name first appeared on the famous blue and white halves in the mid-1980s.

The first was ICI Perspex, followed by McEwan's Lager. The third will be unveiled tomorrow along with the new-style first-choice shirts. I understand that, in financial terms, the new contract will keep pace with shirt deals which have been negotiated by other major clubs at the top end of the Premiership.

Rovers will also reveal details later in the summer of a new change shirt.

That has yet to be finalised.

Meanwhile, it was quiet on the transfer front today, with no further news from France over striker Christophe Dugarry.

He remains an Ewood target, even though Rovers seem to have fallen behind in the chase to some of the top Italian clubs.

Rovers are striving to make a couple of major captures this summer to strengthen the squad enough to make a championship challenge.
