IREAD with some astonishment about the election of the new Mayor of Hyndburn, not, I hasten to add, because of his Pakistani origin, but because he and his advisers decided to fly the flag of Pakistan over a British civic building.
Coun Mirza Yousaf emphasises the importance of bringing together eastern and western culture.
May I suggest to him that flying the Pakistani flag is precisely the wrong way of going about it, and that it probably offended more British citizens than it pleased.
