NEIGHBOURS were shocked today after a bizarre double death in a quiet Burnley cul-de-sac.
Brian Booth, 62, collapsed at his home in Somerford Close last night with a suspected heart attack and after telephoning for an ambulance his wife Marjorie ran to next-door neighbour Ken Wilkinson.
When Ken and Marjorie arrived back at the house they tried to revive Brian, but then Ken collapsed with a heart attack.
An ambulance crew summoned by the first phone call had to call back up so they could work on both neighbours.
Ken, 70, a retired worker for the gas board, lived next-door to his brother and sister-in-law Ronnie and Millie Wilkinson.
Ronnie said: "We had only come back from Majorca on Saturday. I cannot believe what has happened it is bizarre. "Brian's daughter called at our house at 9.10pm and said that Ken had collapsed.
"The ambulance crews worked on Ken and Brian in the house and when they arrived at Burnley General Hospital they spent 45 minutes trying to revive them but to no avail."
Another neighbour said Somerford Close was a quiet little community where everybody knew everyone and looked out for each other.
He said: "It is terrible. We just can't get over what has happened."
