WEIRD and wonderful snapshots of street furniture flooded into Darwen Civic Society during their most successful photographic competition yet.
More than 100 people sent in visions of Darwen's bus shelters, bollards, litter bins and other items dotted around the town's streets.
Civic Society secretary Jack Fisher said the response to the annual event had been overwhelming.
"It has certainly been our best competition yet. The entries have gone to make a fascinating exhibition of unusual and good quality photographs. The subject really got people's imaginations going."
Darwen Moorland School swept the board in the high school section, taking the first, second and third and two highly commended prizes.
There were also four winners in the adult section and five in the primary school category.
The successful snappers received their cheques from Civic Society chairman Pat Berry this week. A selection of the photographs were put on display at the library as part of the council's Green Week.
