SUPER swimmers Dorothy Smith and Carol Wilkinson have completed a mother and daughter double - by swimming the length of the Colne boundary.
The two Colne women were the first people to complete 1,168 lengths of the pool, the equivalent of 18.25 miles, at Pendle Leisure Centre, Colne, as part of Pendle Council's leisure services Pendle in the Swim challenge.
Mrs Smith said: "Carol's had a few stomach operations and they thought swimming would be therapeutic for her. Rather than doing it on her own, I thought I would go with her."
The duo visited the pool three or four times a week to complete the challenge.
Sports centre assistant manager Anne Meachem, said: "The ladies have done very well and completed it in around five weeks. We had a similar challenge at Wavelengths in Nelson and I thought it would be good to do it here as well.
"They go swimming for exercise and to keep fit and now the next challenge is to swim the height of Pendle Hill."
They were presented with T-shirts and certificates to mark their achievement.
