BILL FROGGATT has fond memories of Dick and Pudding.
They were the horses which, at various times, helped pull his milk cart when he worked for Rigby's of Leigh.
But that was a long time and many miles ago.
Now Bill, who served his apprenticeship at Ward & Goldstone as a toolmaker, has put down fresh roots - but is still keeping in touch with home through The Journal on the Internet.
Each week he scans cyberspace from his new home in Canada for The Journal-in-the-sky! And recently he contacted us to tell us how he's going on.
He left for Canada in 1979 and is now vice president of a company selling processing equipment to major food processors across North America and importing equipment from England.
"I have no relatives in Canada except for my wife Jane, son Liam and daughter Rebecca," he said.
"But I'm still a Leyther at heart.
"My brother Keith lives on Boughey Street with his wife Jo and twin daughters Loren and Zoe.
"My parents live on Manchester Road opposite the old Grammar School and their local is the Bowling Green.
"Maybe they can give Dad a free pint for the plug!"
It's all a far cry from Ajax, Ontario, where - after a bitterly-cold winter - summer temperatures are now hitting 90M-bF. "It's camping season," added Bill. "But we have to be careful because of the bears."
Because of the dangers, much of the camping is around lakesides and fantastic beaches.
Dick and Pudding would love it!
