A HEADMASTER has hit back at the author of an anonymous letter which attacked teaching standards at his school.
Ron Browell, head of Queen's Drive County Primary School in Fulwood, was amazed by the claims sent in a letter to this newspaper.
It suggested that findings in OFSTED report by school inspectors meant the school was underachieving. The letter from 'a concerned party' said: "Notwithstanding the advantaged background of the majority of pupils at the school, the report suggests it is underachieving in many key areas and in many respects should be significantly above the average norm for primary school pupils."
But Mr Browell countered that four out of five lessons were found to be 'sound', that inspectors were impressed with pupils' behaviour and that many SAT test results exceeded the national average.
He added: "They even said that the school provided good value for money.
"It is easy for someone to pick out a few criticisms and negative aspects in the report, but over all it was very encouraging."
