WE would like to thank all the organisations and individuals throughout Blackburn and Darwen for their help and kindness shown to us during our year of office as Mayor and Mayoress of the Borough.
The year was a memorable one for us both. We have been proud to witness some excellent work going on in the Borough especially that which targeted those less fortunate than ourselves.
We have been particularly impressed by the efforts of our young people who have throughout the year given us much happiness and pleasure.
Everywhere we visited, people from all walks of life were friendly and hospitable and nothing seemed too much trouble.
It has been a privilege for us to serve as Mayor and Mayoress. There have been so many highlights for us and we are appreciative for all the help and planning and the letters and messages of support and thanks we have received. The efforts of local newspapers in assisting with the publicity of a very full programme of events has been a tremendous help.
