A SMALL grey stone picked up near Britain's highest mountain, has created a peak of excitement among Burnley Muslims.
The stone, found on a riverside below Ben Nevis by Burnley day-trippers has markings which clearly spell out Allah in Arabic.
Now Asians are flocking to see it at mosques and centres in Burnley's Daneshouse district and community leaders are proclaiming the find as 'a miracle.'
The stone was found by an eight-strong group, including Burnley councillor Mozaquir Ali, during a recent trip to Scotland. "We couldn't believe what we had found," said Coun Ali. "The markings strike you straight away. To me it really is a miracle and the mosque Imans in Burnley have authenticated it." Coun Ali says it is planned to frame the stone and place it on permanent exhibition in Burnley.
