ANDY HALL hit a terrific ton as Atherton swept to the top of Vimto Bolton Association in dramatic fashion.
His unbeaten 102 took the side to a strong 185-9 at derby rivals Astley & Tyldesley.
And that was a total A & T were never able to match once they had lost the wicket of Carl Gorse for 44.
Steve Walsh was Atherton's top bowler with 5-31 while Charles Dagnall had 5-47 for A & T.
The winning draw gave Atherton top spot - all because a sensational match involving leaders Clifton at Daisy Hill.
The home side were dismissed for a paltry 82.
But that was only half the story as Hill bounced back with pro Chris Jones taking 8-28 as Clifton stumbled alarmingly. At one stage they were 6-5, and it was only David Halliwell's gutsy knock of 26 that took them anywhere near the target in a final total of 73.
It could have been a similar story at Spring View. But Golborne are made of sterner stuff.
The Wigan side hit 87, Ewan McCray (4-39) and Chris Benbow (3-10) doing the damage.
In reply Golborne were never in trouble, pro Tony Kelly steering them to a comfortable seven-wicket win with an unbeaten 30.
Meanwhile, Glazebury coasted to a 73-run win at Metal Box, fighting back from a disastrous start when they lost both openers without a run on the board.
But an unbeaten 70 from Chris Murray plus 35 from Ian Black and 36 from Paul Warhurst steered the side to 191-9.
Box never looked likely to reach that target, and fell at 118, Andy Durrington picking up 4-58 and spinner Peter Calvert 3-22.
Glazebury 2nd beat Metal Box by four wickets. They dismissed the Liverpool side for 117 (Frank Byrne 3-20, Stuart Caller 2-29, John Gibbons 2-34), then raced in at 119-6 with Tom Milmine hitting 36.
