'ENTENTE cordiale' will be placed on hold for 80 minutes when unbeaten Super League leaders Saints entertain newly-launched French side Paris St. Germain at Knowsley Road on Sunday, kick-off 6pm.
This meeting will mark the first appearance of a French club in town for 25 years, with the last cross-Channel clash being against St. Gaudens in 1971, when European and English champions Saints ran riot to the tune of 62-0, with Tony Karalius and Alan Whittle each scoring an hat-trick.
And the indications are that high-flying Saints are set for another scoring bonanza, for struggling Paris have just five points from eight outings and are second only to bottom club Workington in the defensive stakes, having conceded a massive 322 points.
Team news for Saints fans is that Paul Newlove (hamstring), Apollo Perelini (knee), Chris Joynt (ankle) and Tommy Martyn (groin) are all doubtful but teenage prop Andy Leathem should be fit to resume after a leg injury.
Following the appearance of referee Robert Connolly at Knowsley Road last weekend, his twin brother John will take the whistle on Sunday for a game which will be highlighted on the Sky channel later in the evening.
Saints' Academy team will play Hull in a curtain-raiser kick-off 4.15pm.
Third-placed Saints Alliance team travel to Salford tomorrow, Friday, kick-off 7.30pm. Admission also includes the South Wales v Carlisle game, and It is emphasised that the reduction does not apply at the turnstile on match day.
