A £5,000 reward is on offer for anyone who can provide vital clues to track down three men who staged a vicious armed robbery at a Lancaster post office.

The reward follows a brutal attack on postmaster John Higson, 60, and post office worker, Andrew Lambert, 27, after three robbers stole cash from the Vale sub post office, on Noel Road, last Wednesday morning.

Detectives at Lancaster police are also appealing for the driver of a van who swerved past the getaway car, a white Civic Honda, as it was heading along Noel Road towards Barley Cop Lane to come forward.

The robbers burst into the post office brandishing a gun and a baseball bat last Wednesday at about 8.45am.

Det Chf Insp Colin Maloney said: "The Post Office has offered a reward of up to £5,000 for anyone who might have any information which could lead to the arrest and conviction of the robbers."

One of the robbers was described as white, about 6ft tall, slim build with short dark hair wearing a bomber jacket and jeans and the another man was seen wearing a three-quarter length coat with red markings, with the hood up.
