WARREN Joyce was having transfer talks with a Third Division club today.
I can reveal the experienced midfielder is spending the weekend locked in discussions and a transfer could be completed within the next seven days.
Burnley player-chief Adrian Heath has made it clear that Joyce does not feature in his long term plans at Turf Moor and has only offered him a one-year deal.
And Heath confirmed: "I've spoken to another manager concerning Warren Joyce and discussions have taken place. There could be more developments in the near future.
"It would be unfair to the player and the club to reveal the identity of the team but they play in Division Three.
"I've said to Warren that I will not stand in his way. He is free to leave Burnley if he can get himself fixed up elsewhere.
"There are a number of players I want to bring in between now and the start of the season. I have to make way for fresh faces to arrive."
The hard-running Joyce signed for the Clarets in a £150,000 deal from Plymouth Argyle in the summer of 1993. He had spells with Bolton, where he began his career, and Preston North End.
And Joyce went on to help Burnley back into the First Division, scoring Burnley's final goal in the 3-1 play-off triumph at Plymouth a year later.
Joyce had a two month loan spell with Hull City but now appears likely to be on the move away from Turf Moor.
The full fixture lists for both the Football League and Premiership are scheduled to be released on Monday, June 17.
