TREVOR Foster blitzed apart Accrington and District Golf Club in the Arthur Gibson Open Singles to shave two shots off the course record with a sizzling 63.
After dropping a shot on the first, the Lancashire stalwart and Accrington head greenkeeper birdied eight and nine to reach the turn in one-under-par.
But another birdie on 13 sparked a breathtaking run in which he birdied the final four holes to post his seven-under-par total. "It's marvellous to have played like that on my home course and I'm really pleased," said Foster afterwards.
Foster held the course record with a 65 several years ago before the course was extended.
Stuart Andrew of Clitheroe posted 65 last year in the Accrington Acorn to set the new record before Foster's dramatic round yesterday.
