HOUSEHOLDERS and owners of business premises are being urged to contact the police from today to update their keyholder lists.
Blackburn police have experienced problems in the past, particularly during holiday periods, trying to trace the owners of homes or businesses where alarms have been activated or premises broken into or vandalised.
Inspector Stuart Coates said: "It is frustrating for us when we attend premises which have been damaged or where the alarm has been activated and we cannot trace a keyholder.
"We know that many of our records are out of date, but we do rely on people to keep us informed.
"We have the capa- city to record details for every building in the borough.
"This is a good time to contact us, particularly as we approach the holiday season."
Owners of premises serviced by an alarm company will already have details registered and will be aware of the keyholder attendance requirement.
Other owners and private householders should ring Blackburn police station on Blackburn 51212 or write to The Police Station, Union Street, Darwen. BB3 ODA.
