WHEELED bins instead of rubbish bags are being considered for houses in Rossendale.
Councillors were told the "wheelies" bins would take more rubbish, smell less and reduce the problems of spillage.
There would be a responsibility placed on householders to put the bins out, some properties with several steps could have problems and there would be more trips made to the landfill site.
Officers at the environmental health committee said a wheeled bins system would be easier to supervise and reduce potential complaints and householders would be provided with an improved service.
The committee agreed to investigate and recommended forming a sub-committee to look into a list of bin suppliers who would be invited to a future meeting.
