A WOMAN is hoping to put her psychology degree to good use in her new job.

Ann-Marie Campbell has been appointed by East Lancashire Careers Service Staff Development Services to help firms increase their competitive position.

Part of her work will involve carrying out physcometric tests - the science of measuring people's mental capacities and processes.

Ann-Marie said: "All businesses suffer if they recruit the wrong people. Budgets must work harder these days, so companies need to get it right first time.

"We can help select employees that are more likely to stick at the job and give 100 per cent effort, and the same goes for promoting current staff.

"The psychometric tests search deeper than interview questions and allow you to select those with the motivation to provide a better product and standard of service."

Ann-Marie has a degree in psychology from Sunderland University and has trained with world leaders in occupational assessment, Saville and Holdsworth.

She aims to determine the best new recruits for companies as well as identifying existing employees who are ripe for promotion.

Staff Development Services is the business arm of ELCS and Ann-Marie can be contacted on 01254 238478.
