THIS photograph of a Blackburn junior football team was taken as war clouds gathered over Europe in 1914.
Within months some of the players who had faced nothing more ferocious than a bustling centre forward would be experiencing the horrors of the Western Front or the war at sea.
The photograph was found by Brian Behan when he was sorting out the belongings of his uncle, William Burns, who lived in the Infirmary Street area of Blackburn.
He died a few months ago at the age of 85 and Mr Behan thinks his uncle may have been one of the young mascots sitting in front of the players.
He believes the team was either St Peter's, Mill Hill, or St Joseph's, Audley.
Can you identify any of the players or the team?
If you can, ring the Evening Telegraph news desk on 01254 678678 extension 220.
