FIREFIGHTERS are preparing a day of fun to raise cash for a Darwen teenager left in a wheelchair after a sledging accident.
Darwen fire station will hold an open day for townsfolk on Sunday, June 23, 10am to 4pm, in aid of Stephen Lightbown, of Sough Road, Darwen.
Half the cash will go towards and appeal for the 16-year-old, who has been left in a wheelchair following the accident in January.
The rest of the money will go towards the Fire Service Benevolent Fund for injured and retired firefighters.
Alistair McLean at Darwen fire station, who is helping to finalise preparations for the fun day, said the varied activities would include a demonstration of how trapped people are cut from vehicles.
