CHORLEY CC took another important step on the road to Lord's in their defence of the Abbot Ale Cup with a comfortable victory by 84 runs over Greater Manchester club Roe Green at Worsley last night.

In the regional final Chorley will now be at home to either Ormskirk or Birkenhead Park.

Put in to bat Chorley reached 205-8 in their 45 overs with opener Neil Bannister undefeated on 82 and captain Roland Horridge contributing a valuable 43.

In reply Roe Green made a steady start but were never up with the required run rate. After an opening partnership of 58 they collapsed to 104-9 and finished 121 all out, six Chorley bowlers sharing the wickets.
