IT is a great shame that Republican Paul Pawlowski finally feels it is time to call it a day in his campaign to rid this country of that undemocratic financial drain we call "Our" Royal Family.

Not that I think that he stood much chance of success, faced with the biased press that makes much of its money carrying very dull stories of the Royals.

The press are only too willing to discredit such campaigners as Mr Pawlowski. If anyone should doubt this, they need look no further than the Lancashire Evening Telegraph on June 1.

What was the relevance of him attempting to set up a Church of Aphrodite to the story you were being dealt with?

And just who exactly has so little to worry about in their own life that they would be interested in Prince William having some of his drawings displayed at his school?

It is unfortunate that Mr Pawlowski should step down now, because I think the monarchy's days are well and truly numbered.

We have no Republican Party (yet) to vote for, so it is important that those opposed to the monarchy make it clear to the established parties that we will not vote for a party that supports the continuance of this immoral tradition.
