NATIONAL Wildlife Week swung into action at the weekend and people of all ages will be invited to venture out to enjoy more than 300 action-packed events throughout the country.
Lancashire Wildlife Trust at Bamber Bridge will be one of the places for East Lancashire folk to head for until Sunday.
The theme of this year's week is conservation or extinction, and it aims to encourage people to boost local efforts to conserve threatened habitats and species.
One of the species under threat is the orchid, and a series of guided tours takes place on Orchid Day this Saturday.
Families and children will be encouraged to learn even more about their surroundings on Watch activity day on June 16.
