SHOWJUMPING specialist Joanna Jackson will take part in the Olympic dressage event in Atlanta.
The 26-year-old from Chatburn near Clitheroe, whose dream has always been to compete in the Olympics, was selected by British team officials yesterday.
Her performances in several international meetings for the British team over the past year convinced the selectors of her calibre.
And now she is determined to do her best in the biggest competiton of all.
"It's just a dream come true," she said during a break from training with the British team today.
"Words can't completely explain how you feel about it.
"For the next few weeks we will be involved in intensive training to give ourselves the best possible chance of success in Atlanta.
"When I go out there I don't want to be just making up numbers.
"I want to do my best to finish as high as I can."
Jackson will fly to Atlanta with the British team at the start of July.
