GARAGE owner Roger West has lost a foot following a horrific motor cycle accident in the Yorkshire Dales.
Mr West, 33, of Lowerhouse, Burnley, was riding his machine at Airton near Malham a week ago when he was involved in an accident with an Audi car driven by David Bamford, from Herefordshire.
He was taken to Airedale Hospital at Steeton, where he underwent an operation on his left foot.
A second operation was carried out yesterday when the foot was amputated.
Mr West's wife, Pamela, has spent much of the last week at the hospital.
The couple have a son, Mathew, who is one year old today.
Mr West is a partner at Read Auto-Tech, car servicing and repairs, Empire Mill, Liverpool Road, Burnley.
His partner John Campbell said: "Roger is well-known and liked in the area. We are all shocked by what has happened.''
