YOU don't have to be a connoisseur to enjoy a little tipple as wine lovers from across Preston are finding out at a new Wine Tasting Group.
The club is the brainchild of solicitor Stephen Burns of Thorntrees Avenue in Lea, who has been sipping and slurping for 14 years.
The 37-year-old legal eagle loves wine so much he wants to share his interest and knowledge with friends.
He said: "People seem to want to know about wine these days. I think it has something to do with the revolution taking place in supermarkets."
And he is keen to stress that it is a 'fun' group: "The snobbery has gone out of the industry now. People just want to learn."
Last month the group had its first meeting when enthusiasts gathered in Cannon's Restaurant in Preston to sip ten different wines and compared French to the "new" world wines, such as California and Romania. The head wine buyer for Booths, Christopher Dee, explained how to taste.
The group's next meeting is on June 27 and looks at California wines. Anyone interested should call Stephen on 724775.
