A HOSPITAL food bug alert was launched in Burnley after 35 patients and staff were struck down by a mystery illness.
The bug struck this week when 18 members of staff and 17 elderly patients were taken ill at the town's general hospital.
A tray used for defrosting chicken legs was blamed. In June of the previous year 42 people were infected by an outbreak of salmonella at the hospital.
