LANCASHIRE county councillors have called for a blanket ban on the transportation of deadly poisonous plutonium through the county.
In a unanimous vote at County Hall, councillors agreed to ask British Nuclear Fuels to avoid Lancashire when delivering plutonium from Sellafield to the Dounreay nuclear plant in Scotland. And Blackpool Council are to be urged to ban the transportation of the nuclear fuel through the resort's airport.
