A PUB bowling green which this week hosts one of the region's top tournaments was a target for vandals at the weekend.
Philip Goodall, manager of the Carr Mill Hotel, on the East Lancs Road, discovered the damage - estimated at about £100 - at 12.15am on Monday, June 10.
The vandals had dug three large holes on the green which is the venue for the Greenalls Classic crown green bowls tournament starting on Sunday, June 15.
Mr Goodall, though, was confident the green would be in perfect condition in time for the first matches and added: "The people who get their kicks out of this kind of thing are a nuisance.
"This is not the first time we have had trouble with vandals and although we think we know who is responsible for this latest episode, there is very little we can do without cast-iron proof."
