ALAN MASON finally weaved his magic - and it was quite breathtaking.

The canny Kiwi, who has come in for some stick from some impatient elements at Hilton Park, displayed the full range of his undoubted artistry as Leigh powered in at Barrow.

The 41-12 victory was their first away of the season AND their third on the bounce.

Mason's vision was simply too much for Barrow. Twice in the first-half he laid on simple tries for winger David Ingram and hard-working prop John Perigo as Leigh raced to an emphatic 23-6 interval lead.

A perfectly-weighted kick to the corner gave Ingram the first of his try treble and a super overhead pass gave Perigo the space to stride in for the score.

Sub David Wright gave Ingram his second with his first touch of the ball, and Dean Purtill skipped clear and then sprinted 50 yards for another try.

A Shaun Brown drop plus three Purtill goals ensured Leigh had the points in the bag by the butty break!

The second half was a mere formality.

Alan Hadcroft and Purtill linked to give Jonathan Quigley a clear run for another try before Mason's disguised pass sent Purtill clear for his second touchdown.

Tim Street's strong break and clever pass saw Ingram complete his hat-trick and Purtill increased his points tally to 20 with a sixth goal in seven pots.

Leigh's defence was broken only twice, once at the end of each half by Martin John and Phil Atkinson.
