PARALYMPIC hopeful Mark Brown has been picked for the British team to run at the Atlanta Games.
The 34-year-old from Burnley is selected to run in the 5,000m and is one of 350 British athletes, set for the Paralympics, who will meet up next weekend at Stoke Mandeville.
Brown still hopes to run the marathon in Atlanta as well.
And he plans to talk to team manager Bill Berry in a weeks' time with a view to gaining a slot in what he regards as the "ultimate event".
"I'm over the moon - after all the work that has been put in the reward is finally here," said Brown.
"I always felt I would be going but until you get the letter there is always a doubt in your mind.
"I felt I'd be letting my sponsors down in some way had I not managed to get a position.
In two weeks' time Brown will run his last competitive race before Atlanta, the Pan Games in Birmingham.
