APPROXIMATELY four babies will be born with a learning disability in the time it takes to run the New York Marathon on November 3.
Runners up and down the country are being encouraged to run for Mencap, and I am busy spreading the word. The money raised will help Mencap ensure they receive the support they need.
There are three good reasons to get involved: 1996 is Mencap's 50th birthday; fabulous incentive prizes for runners include free flights and entry, an Olympus camera for the top fund-raiser and free trainers for
everyone who reaches the fundraising target; all runners receive a sponsorship pack to help them recruit lots of sponsors.
I hope readers will help me in my quest to recruit runners.
Anyone who wants to run for Mencap should write to me to receive their pack.
