JAMES Peterson wrote his name into the Vaux Ribblesdale League record books when he became the first man to hit a league double century.
Peterson put on a masterful one-man show as Barnoldswick defeated Oswaldtwistle by 195 runs.
He scored 203 not out, a new record batting score in the league, and just one short of Craig Haworth's all-time record of 204 scored in the Ramsbottom Cup for Great Harwood against Earby in 1990.
The score included an opening partnership of 180 with Ian Scothern (62).
Peterson went on to claim five wickets as Oswaldtwistle were dismissed for 92.
Read professional Shahid Nawaz also looks to be heading towards a record-breaking season after scoring 93 against Cherry Tree.
He has already scored over 600 runs and has taken 40 wickets and could become the first-ever player in the league to do the 'double' of 1,000 runs and 100 wickets in a season.
Andrew Robinson scored a century for Clitheroe as they took the honours against Settle, teaming up with Mark Benson (73) to set a target of 268-5.
Settle professional Paul Beech scored 56, but Jonathan Fielding captured five wickets for 118 runs to give Clitheroe victory.
Earby's 10-wicket win over Ribblesdale Wanderers was a real family affair with brothers Andrew, Nigel and Stephen Pickles in the thick of the action.
Andrew set the tone by picking up three wickets as Wanderers were dimsised for 116, before Nigel (54no) and Stephen (57no) shared out the runs in reply.
The Padiham professional was on sparkling all-round form, scoring 61 and taking 7-66 as they defeated Edenfield. Nasser Mahmood (59) was also in the runs with Edenfield's Richard Swift taking 6-30.
Blackburn Northern professional Ian Billcliff scored 91 not out as Blackburn Northern reached 194-5, but they were pushed all the way by Baxenden who reached 187 before the final wicket fell, Jeff Hacking claiming eight wickets as he maintained an impressive spell of form.
A half-century for Daniel Cheesbrough was not enough to save Great Harwood as Whalley picked up five points thanks to Dave O'Neill who took 5-65.
Results: Baxenden 187, Blackburn Nrothern 194-5 (7); Clitheroe 268-5 (5), Settle 205-8; Earby 117-0 (7), Ribblesdale Wanderers 116; Edenfield 133, Padiham 187-9 (7); Oswaldtwistl 92, Barnoldswick 287-2 (7); Read 239-6 (5), Cherry Tree 198-8; Whalley 147-7 (5), Great Harwood 145-8.
