NOSTALGIC Air, owned jointly by Peter Pickford from Darwen and Barnoldswick's Trevor Scothern, came from behind to land the Tattersalls Fillies' Maiden Auction Stakes in determined style at Pontefract last night.
The two-year-old filly, ridden by highly-regarded Jimmy Quinn and trained by Ernie Weymes, chased the leaders and stayed on well to lead inside the final furlong.
She came home strongly, without Quinn having to exert much pressure, to deny 7-2 joint favourite Danehill Princess, who was unable to quicken in the closing stages on the good to firm ground.
For joint owner Pickford, who owns Pioneer Business Forms Ltd in Darwen, it was a sweet success.
"Everyone involved with the horse is very happy - a few bottles of champagne were opened and liberally dispensed last night!" he said.
