TONY Jackson, who successfully returned to the Lancashire team this season, produced some excellent golf to defeat Darwen's John Grimshaw in last night's semi-final of the Harold Ryden Trophy at Darwen.
The Blackburn member recorded an emphatic three and two victory over Grimshaw, who had been playing breathtaking golf throughout the tournament.
But the local lad came unstuck against a revitalised Jackson, whose previous best in this tournament was a semi-final appearance, playing some of the best golf of his life.
Michael Bardi of Mytton Fold produced another strong display last night to beat Mike Bailey of Clitheroe four and two in the second semi-final.
Last Saturday, he equalled the course record with a splendid 63 and has been firing on all cylinders since.
The final tees off at 5.30pm at Darwen Golf Club and the presentation will follow in the clubhouse at 9 o'clock.
