LANCASHIRE songs with a French accent will be heard at a culture club concert next week in Leigh.
Guests from twin town Angers will be in Leigh furthering plans for the exciting Euro Maison project.
Groups from Leigh and Angers are working on a plan to buy and renovate a house in the Loire Valley which can be used as a recreational centre.
Hopeful that Euro grants will help fund the project, the Leigh half of the equation have been fund-raising to help realise their dream. And at the next Euro Maison venture on Thursday (June 27) nine visitors from the Angers' based Culture et Liberte group will sample local culture at Leigh Liberal Club.
Group member and Leigh-based entertainer, singer, raconteur and dialect demon John Eatock will head a concert which begins at 7.30pm. Admission is £1.
In preparation, Leigh's Euro Maison members have been brushing-up their French skills through courses at Leigh TUC Centre.
Spokesman Helen Kaye revealed: "Translating Lancashire ballads might prove difficult, but we're looking forward to trying out new linguistic skills.
"We hope to translate our ideas into practice - but first we'll have to translate them in to French."
During their visit the French will meet Mayor Cllr Bernard Coyle and get a first hand look at local projects like Platt Bridge Enterprise Centre and the Leigh Homeless Campaign.
