BLACKBURN Bullet Carl Fogarty (pictured) stepped his world title challenge up a gear with a superb win in Italy.
The superbike king stormed out of a five-man pack at the last corner to take the chequered flag in race one at Monza.
Showing the form which made him a world champion, he went on to grab third place on his Castrol Honda in another incident-packed race two, won by local hero, Italian rider Pier-Francesco Chili.
Sunday's results have moved double world champ Foggy up into third place in the title race, 24 points behind his team-mate, Kiwi racer Aaron Slight, who heads the table.
Foggy went straight from Monza to Czechoslovakia for testing with his Honda squad. They are hoping to squeeze extra performance out of the bike, which has run well at high speed circuits like Monza, but struggled on slower tracks such as Donington Park.
