NEW Century, owned by Blackburn businessmen Stan Short, Bill Kelly and Tony Barker, finished 16th in the Royal Hunt Cup at Royal Ascot won by Yeast.
For three quarters of the race the four-year-old featured among the leaders but ran into traffic trouble when the large field began its charge for home.
Though the result was disappointing, New Century, bought from the world famous Henry Cecil stable for £30,000, still has a promising future as a handicapper.
