WHEN teenager Danielle Holding saw a neighbour needing a helping hand she did something about it.
Unassuming Danielle, who is just 13, became a good friend to Steven and Mary Robinson, of Colne when one of their children became ill.
She helped them with their six other young children by assisting with meals, reading stories, bathtime and putting them to bed.
Said Mr Robinson: "Danielle has been an absolute star. She has done it all off her own bat and has been a tremendous help to us."
Mrs Robinson told Danielle's teachers at Park High School about her selfless actions while at the Mother and Toddler Group which is run by Year 10 pupils.
Deputy head Mrs Janet Walsh said: "Danielle is a lovely girl and possibly doesn't realised just how much of a help she has been to Mr and Mrs Robinson.
"They wondered if there was some way we could recognise the time and commitment that Danielle has made and we thought she truly deserved our Prudential Achievement Award.".
Danielle was presented with the award at the toddler group.
