MAY I appeal to the owners of cats and dogs to have them neutered? Not only will their pets have happier lives, but it will help to reduce the excess of unwanted kittens and puppies.

Pets are not 'wanting to go out' and be locked out of their homes. Driven by natural instinct and through no fault of theirs, they cause distress to already-neutered animals.

We should protect our pets from the kicks and abuse which they meet outside. Some people will not allow them to walk in front of their house.

I have rescued many cats and dogs and had them all neutered and know the heartbreak of trying to restore faith in humanity in poor abandoned cats and dogs which suffer horrendously.

I MORRIS (Mrs), Selbourne Street, Blackburn.
